Childbirth Educator
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; associates or bachelor’s degree preferred
Ability to work a part-time, flexible schedule; this job takes place primarily on evenings and weekends
Intermediate proficiency with Google products (Docs, Sheets, Slides), copy machine
Comfortable with public speaking for medium-sized groups (15 or less)
Demeanor is energetic/welcoming/engaged while sharing scripted information
Active listening
Creative problem solving
Improvisational skills to manage crowd questions clearly and inline with Birth Center policy
Childbirth Educator Certification, such as ICEA, Lamaze, etc.
BLS preferred
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
This position can lead prospective client tours, and/or educational workshops and classes with birth center clients, community partners, and birth and wellness professionals.
Lead Birth Center Tours to the specifications of the Outreach + Education Coordinator
Provide information to clients and interested community members via classes and workshops, including childbirth education, classes to support postpartum and newborn health, as well as other important sexual health and wellness promotion messages, to the specification of the curriculum provided to you
Maintain a detailed record of attendees and classes through EMR and/or other Google suite tools
Ensure each client visit is optimal and handles sensitive and emotional situations professionally
Assists birth center personnel to provide high-quality care, client satisfaction, staff satisfaction, and services to clients
Set up teaching materials and classroom space and breakdown of space, including cleaning
Support Outreach + Education Coordinator at outside events such as informational expos, community events or other programming
Performs other duties as assigned
Support Birth Center generally with birth adjacent tasks
Attend monthly staff meetings

The employee must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
Walk up and down stairs with class materials

6-10 hours per week
Mostly weekend and evening shifts

Outreach + Education Coordinator
WAGE RANGE:
$20-24 per hour
