Vaginal Birth After Cesarean

Andaluz Waterbirth Center is proud to facilitate safe, out-of-hospital VBAC experiences in Portland, OR!

Andaluz midwives love helping our clients plan and achieve a vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC).

Our midwives provide complete information about the risks and benefits of VBAC so you can make the healthiest choice possible for you and your baby.

Over 90% of our clients intending a VBAC end up having a successful vaginal birth!

Why is our success rate so high?

  • We believe that that VBACs are attainable and appropriate for most people

  • We have a philosophy of trust in the process of birth

  • We use low-intervention, evidence-based practices during labor (like intermittent auscultation) that increase the likelihood of having a vaginal birth

Am I a good candidate for a birth center VBAC?

To determine if an out-of-hospital VBAC is a safe option for you, our midwives will offer a thorough risk assessment.

At your risk assessment appointment, your midwife will consider your health history, the circumstances surrounding your cesarean birth, the type of incision you had, and the time between your cesarean birth and the conception of your current pregnancy in order to determine if you meet low risk criteria for birth at a birth center.
